About Frances Simpson Gardens

About

After having worked for many years as a lawyer, in 2003 I started a new career in garden design. Originally designing gardens for family and friends as wedding presents or just for fun, I then moved into commercial projects and domestic gardens in London and the south-east of England.

I particularly enjoy focusing on the plants and soft landscaping aspect of my designs.

I studied garden design at Kingston University and then in 2020 graduated from the London College of Garden Design with a Diploma in Planting Design.

Recently I have expanded to projects in Mallorca where I love to experiment with my knowledge of Mediterranean plants. Current projects include gardens in central London, Sussex, Kent and Mallorca.

I run a small practice in Fulham, London, working with a range of specialist partners and international suppliers.

Experience

I established my London studio in 2003 and since then have designed gardens, ranging  from roof terraces, courtyard gardens and even a garden on a river boat, to larger landscapes in the UK and Mallorca.

My  earlier career in law has helped me  understand  the importance of working closely with clients and a professional approach to garden design whatever the project. Each time the approach is the same - to work together with the client  to create a garden that brings their vision to life in harmony with nature.
